As heir to the ancient Library at Alexandria, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina aims to promote an artistic, cultural renaissance in the Mediterranean region through a large cultural centre, grouping libraries, a planetarium, art galleries, museums (Antiquities, Sciences, Manuscripts), and research and documentation centres.
