Expérience

Over the past 3 years, YT has implemented an increasing range of projects and services in training, production, and performance of theatre arts, developing the skills of children and young adults in the field, and building community human and physical capacities to support theatre. YT activities in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 can be summarized in the following projects:

4 Play 4 Kids and more than 360 performances: The project of making plays by professional actors. The choices of themes for theatre plays produced by YT are derived from daily life of Palestinian children. They are themes relevant to the community or are based on (or inspired by) contemporary or traditional sources of Palestinian or Arab cultural heritage or literature. Themes come easily because we live in a society so full of bizarre and often unbearable problems. Actors made several rehearsals and at the end of this stage a play tour was carried out for school students who came to YT location in order to attend the performances. At the end of each performance a small workshop was conducted with school students through making debates and discussions. 40 performances were performed in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Education and UNRWA. The generated play form this project called "In the Place". The play based on "Waiting for Godot" for Samuel Beckett.

Drama Festival: The basic aim of the project was to offer special workshops to school teachers in how to use story-telling and drama as an educational tool. YT artistic staff developed a training manual on this subject which is the basis of the workshop. The workshop was for school teachers of any grades and any disciplines. School teachers carried out a drama workshops for their students under the supervision of YT artistic staff. Students produced presentations in order to be performed in a big ceremony in the presence of student peers, teachers, parents and general public. Workshops and the selection of teachers and schools was organized in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education (Educational Directorate of Hebron City). At least 20 teachers and 150 students beneficiated from this project.
